It's been years since I worked on a 6 inch figures or what they call 1/12 scale. I got interested recently with the Bandai Star Wars Model Kits when I watched some of the fwoosh reviews on youtube.
Some are preferring the MAFEX version is the best 1/12 scale Darth Vader out there, but I think with a few tweaks and detailing the Bandai model Kit can be the best looking 1/12 Darth Vader.
Here are some of the improvements I added. Model kits are normally light since the parts are hollow. So to make it heavier I filled all the hollow areas with apoxie sculpt. The figure feels much solid now and sturdy. I also scrapped all the plastic molded cape & robe parts since I feel it didn't work well for the model kit. Instead, I provided a very light fabric, and i modified the belt straps so the robe can continuously flow on the lower body.
Since the Bandai model kit Stormtroopers are out of stock when I bought these, I just settled with the Sandtroopers to be my Stormtroopers temporarily. These figures are also filled with apoxie clay and I added a black fabric to hide all the joints. The effect was really great. I looked like a mini Hot Toys.
