Riverspoons Studios R2-D2 Custom Pop! Figure

“Beep Bleep Bleep Bloop” - R2D2

One of the most iconic Star Wars droid, R2-D2! Funko's first release of R2-D2 lacks detail and just too plain simple. Last year they released an exclusive R2-D2 with tray and drinks from the Jabba’s Sail Barge scene. That version of R2 is a brand new mold, and has more details and line panels. Which is the same mold used on C2-B5 Rogue One release. Since I wanted to do my own version of R2, I used the C2-B5 as the base figure, cut the dome part and body in half. removed the bobble effect spring and made my own rotating peg inside. I’m so relieved that my idea worked well and now you can turn R2’s dome head 360!

Riverspoons Studios Captain Rex Custom Pop! Figure

“In my book, experience outranks everything.” - Captain Rex

I’ve been itching to do this custom for a while now, and It’s nice to finally have this done. Obviously, I used the Clone Trooper Pop! as the base, and I modified the helmets visor and added DIY periscope and flashlight on both sides. The figure is fully repainted, detailed and weathered. This might be a good start to make this a Clone Trooper series, and I’m can’t wait to do more!

Riverspoons Studios "Rocket Firing" Boba Fett Custom Pop! Figure

“You can run, you’ll only die tired.” - Boba Fett

It is always exciting for me to work on something inspired be the vintage Star Wars figures. This time I made the controversial Mail-away “Rocket firing Boba Fett”. I made some minor adjustment on Boba’s Helmet and the figure is fully repainted with the same color scheme as the vintage figure. To make everything looks right I also made the final layout in vintage Star Wars look.

Riverspoons Studios Marty McFly with Poncho Custom Pop! Figure

“No! I thought we could settle this like men” - Marty McFly

My second Marty McFly custom figure based from the 3rd film of Back to the Future. This time it’s Marty on his Ponco and his DIY bullet proof gear. The Pop! figure I used for this project is Teddy from the Westworld. I sculpted the bulletproof on his chest and the eyebrows and added hand painted fabric for the Poncho. Then the figure is fully repainted. It was a blast working on this figure, and I can’t wait to add more BTTF figures on my next projects.

Riverspoons Studios Totoro Custom Pop! Figure

“ Trees and people used to be good friends.”

A nice follow up to my Hayao Miyazaki custom Pop! I am pleased to present Totoro! Since I started customizing Pop figures I always wanted to have a Totoro piece. The base figure I used came from a Nibariki Totoro figure. Then I added some details like the sculpted leaf on top of his head and also it wouldn’t be a Pop without the trademark big concave eyes, just a perfect match for Totoro. The figure is fully repainted with acrylic paints. It was a blast working on this project and hopefully I could do more Studio Ghibli stuffs in the future.

Riverspoons Studios Hayao Miyazaki Custom Pop! Figure

“Always believe in yourself. Do this and no matter where you are, you will have nothing to fear.” - Hayao Miyazaki

This latest piece is a tribute to the one and only Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli and featuring one of his masterpiece “My Neighbor Totoro”. I just thought it would be cool to make him in Pop! form, just like Stan Lee for Marvel. It was a treat working on this project, I also listened to Totoro’s soundtrack while working . I used the Funko Pop! ID4 David Levinson as my base figure for Miyazaki. All additional details were sculpted over. As for the Pop minis of Totoro, Chu & Chibi Totoro and Cat Bus, they are Nibariki minifigures with customized eyes to match Pop! trademark big concave eyes. Truly had fun with the photoshoot, it was nice see them all together having a great sunny day.

Riverspoons Studios Star Wars Droids Vlix Custom Pop! Figure

To wrap up my Star Wars Droids customs I decided to make Vlix since he’s the main villain on the 1985 TV show. Vlix vintage figure is one of the rarest, priciest and hardest to find figure in Star Wars collectibles since it came out when the droids line was canceled and only a few came out on Brazil via Glasslite company. The base figure for this piece is Space Jam’s Swackhammer. I did a lot of trimming on the body then most of the details are sculpted over the figure. May the 4th be with you!

Riverspoons Studios C3PO & R2-D2 1985 Droids Custom Pop! Figures

“Hello, I am C-3PO, human-cyborg relations. And this is my counterpart R2D2”

A nod to 1985 Star Wars Droids Animated Series figures made by Kenner. It really feels nostalgic seeing these two in vintage colors based from their 1985 counterpart. This is a full repaint of C-3PO and C2B5 Funko Pops in their vintage colors of C3PO and R2D2.
